Barn Raising - The Second Weekend
The Lake Douglas Ranch started it's barn raising project on the weekend of June 25-27, 2004.  With the help of a number of friends we were able to get the barn about half done.  Click HERE to see the first set of pictures from the project.

We continued our building project on the 4th of July weekend.  We had to get the decking for the roof on the rafters.  To protect the decking from the rain we were committed to getting through to the tar papering once we started.  We barely got the tar paper finished before a horrendous storm hit us on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday Cowboy Dan lugged the 35 bundles of shingles up on the roof and finished putting in the boards to form the stalls.  We hardly got started shingling the roof before another violent storm hit on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday we got about one quarter of the shingling done on the roof, and then framed out the floor for the tack room before calling it quits early at about noon.  The weekend's work had gone on long enough and we were exhausted.

We'll be working to complete the barn as we're able over the next few weeks.  We really just need to finish framing out the tack room and put gates on the stalls and then we'll be finished.  We're hiring out the remaining shingling work on the roof.  Lighting and plumbing come later.

Special thanks to Patrick, Joe, and Adam for all their hard work and assistance on weekend number two!
