Cowboy Dan got together with about 25 friends
for a go at skydiving. Many thanks to Rick for suggesting it, and letting
the Ranch hijack the idea for Cowboy Dan's birthday. Seven people jumped on Sunday, September 24th.
The rest watched, wondering why we'd jump out of a 'perfectly good'
airplane. Of course, once they saw the plane, they understood. It
wasn't 'perfectly good,' just 'good enough.'We did Tandem Jumping at Skydive
DeLand. Tandem Jumping involves putting on a harness that is then
connected to the harness of your 'jump master,' who has the parachute on his
back. After jumping from the plane at 12,500 ft., you both free fall for
about a minute, and then the jump master pulls the ripcord, and you both float
on down, steering towards the landing zone.
Everyone who jumped had a GREAT time, and
quite a few of the spectators decided that they'd try jumping on the next go
round....sometime in the spring/early summer.
Cowboy Dan's jump master was Kyle, apparently
the most daring of the group of jump masters. He'd have to be...allowing
himself to be strapped to Cowboy Dan for a jump from a plane, on what all the
experts called a difficult day for skydiving. Cowboy Dan
also paid an additional fee, and had a videographer record his jump as he was
making his leap. The pictures in the air were taken by Gus, who works at
Skydive DeLand.
Cowboy Dan says "THANKS, Kyle;" and "THANKS, Gus." You
two really made the day!
